Fuerza Coffee

I took my first sip of Fuerza Coffee one month after the inaugural Outspoken Women in Triathlon Summit 2018. Fuerza was one of the event sponsors and was kind enough to put a sample pour over in our goodie bags from the summit. To be honest, I thought the pour over package was instant coffee. I had recently moved back to the USA from Australia a year prior and instant coffee down under is more sophisticated than instant coffee in the USA. I was excited that Fuerza Coffee was able to bring great instant coffee to the US, wrong, it was not instant coffee and I was taken back from what I tasted. Fresh. Bold. Soothing.

The first product I tasted was their pour over packs and it took me some time before I moved onto their whole bean coffee because I needed to figure out how to grind, press, and/or brew the coffee. I purchased their French press travel mug and a Java Press Coffee Co. travel hand grinder. Living in a fifth wheel camper I find myself researching products that are best in quality, small, and travel worthy. Since starting to drink Fuerza coffee it is my primary source of caffine on a daily basis. A typical day involves waking up and grinding a full Java Press hand grinder tube. Note - the grinder is perfect for one standard French press or two cups of coffee in the Fuerza French press mug. When I travel I take about five pour over packages, whole beans, my Java Press hand grinder, and my travel mug. I try and not purchase coffee in airports or on road trips. I can brew fresher and bolder coffee more cheaply than buying a franchise or gas station coffee. The trick is to just ask for a cup of hot water (you usually get two cups stuck together so you don’t burn your hand) in an airport cafe or use a gas station’s hot water spout for a pour over pack or a travel French press. When in a gas station, throw away your pour over package when you get outside so you can show the cashier that you did not steal coffee and/or tell them in advance that you just want hot water!

The companies website has a great mission statement and describes how they source their coffee sustainably from women only growers. They have two types of coffee, you can choose from ground type or whole bean, Outspoken Dark Roast Blend or my favorite Guapa blend. They roast, grind, package, and ship their coffee out once a week to guarentee freshness! I do have a one time 24% off discount code, STRONGALYSHA, on select products feel free to use it!
